Go for it all while you can -- o-rings, 60lb valve springs, porting and polishing . . .

I almost wish I were your mechanic -- talk about job security !

Good luck putting it back together.

Yeah it was bound to happen. Now it is going to take some cash to get it back on the road. At least if I do it right this time I wont thave to do it again.

I have been running mine at about #50 for about 2 months. Some blow at 30 and some dont you just never know. They say try to keep them at or under #40. I have also been running propane which they say can be hard on a head gasket. If I was you BigBully I would get a gauge that read higher to at least see where you are at.

Well I was thinking about getting a higher Gauge. But I also have a Major Surge Problem That drives me Nuts. I was thinking I need a Newer Turbo with a Waste gate???? Also If I put the intercooler on does anyone think that will help with the Surge?
I have a PS2000 LPG system and I am thinking about putting it on the Fummins But I am Also thinking the POD Injectors. Which would be better?
Thank you,

I like the extra kick of propane, but I think I would go with injectors if I was you or just do both. So whats the deal with the surging. Does it only do it at cetain rpm's or does it do it all the time? Need a little more info. What turbo are you currently running? Does this surge show up on your boost gauge?

The only thing that will fix your surging problem is a newer turbo with the MWE slots. I went through this with mine, the problem went away when I put a WH1C off a '94 on the truck. The wastegate isn't important, if you're happy with the spoolup you can just swap your current exhaust housing onto the new turbo. The intercooler will probably make the surge worse since it will increase the backpressure on the compressor - which is the cause of the problem in the first place, too much pressure, not enough airflow. You can find WH1C and HX-35 turbos in the classifieds on this site and on Ebay for around $300. The POD's are going to make it worse too - even more fuel is not going to make this airflow problem go away. Once you change the turbo out, your surge will be gone.

I don't like propane on a modified truck. I think on a totally stock truck it is safe if you're careful with it. Advance the timing or add lots of fuel and you're asking to blow a head gasket.

OK thats What I thought, That I needed a newer Turbo.

Stomp, It does this Between around 1300 to 1800 and Yes it shows on the boost gauge Big time. Its alot worse when I pull a load. So I guess I will look for a newer Turbo. I want to do the Injectors But I want to make this thing an Automatic First. I hate Shifting with a Passion so Right now Im looking for Core E4OD to build for it. I found one with a broke tail shaft But its in Wi so Shipping will be Killer.

Yeah a new turbo will deffinatly help. What housing are you currently running? I would love an automatic. Maybe I should look into one. If you are loking into getting a turbo you should try to get one that is going to flow enough air if you decide on getting bigger injectors in the future.

Housing, Well Its the Stock housing on a 1993 CTD. Seems like its an 18 maybe? What about the HX-35 off a 98.5 CTD? There is a Brand new one on Ebay for $400 right now.

Hey if it is brand new it doesnt sound bad. It is going to come with a 12 housing on it. The 12housing spools super fast, but fall flat on there face on the top end.
See if you can find a 16 and you will be really happy.

Ya I was just thinking about that, My 18 Spools ok but a 12??? WoW.

Man I have Opened up a Whole new Plan for the Fummins. I just seen the 3200rpm Spring and the old Smoky Pin Mods. Sounds like fun to me. Do you happen to know How much they are and where to buy them? I will be on the look out for an HX-35 with a 16 housing.
