Broken exhaust manifold bolt in the head

Start spraying penitrtating oil on it now.

The trick is to start drilling with a smaller drill then work your way up until you just touch the threads. Drill the hole straight! Then take a center punch and (at a 45 degree angle to the bolt) start collapsing the bolt in on top of itself. Sometimes you can tap it to the left and it will unthread itself right away. It should come out real easy after that.

I'm somewhat ticked right now. I think I'm just gonna pull the head and take it to a machine shop... or sell the dern thing..

did you try an easy out first? I snapped a bolt on the bottom cover of a Eaton 18spd before and it took over an hour with an easy out but I still got it out. I kept the threads from inside the tranny, keep it as a reminder to myself not to over tighten

Okay, I'll offer $700 for the whole truck, broken stud and all. Everybody knows its prolly ruined anyway!
