Broken Exhaust manifold bolt
I was in the process of working with my e-brake and noticed the back lower exhaust bolt is broken off, which looks like a bear to remove(i believe its flush with the head)
Is this a sign that a new exhaust manifold is gonna be needed? Or do I have a chance to buy some time? Its not currently leaking
Thanks

If it isnt leaking, then I wouldnt worry about it. Are you going to have to pull the head to get the broken bolt out? Just glad to hear i'm not the only one with bad luck.

When I got my truck there was one broken I didn't worry about it too much until I had the turbo off to change it and I thought it was going to be a big PITA but when I took the manifold off the stud just backed right out!! I guess I got lucky. But if its not leaking than don't worry about it. Untill its convenient to actually do something about it.

Well last night i finished up my 4" exhaust, and was looking close at the bolt. Its broken off IN the head because i can still see threads on the bolt(not many) I can also see the channel in the manifold for the bolt to ride in, and see that it has shrunk, (Wanna keep your ego in check ) because the manifold is tight up against #5 instead of in the middle like the others.
My truck is a 1991, so that manifold has lasted, but only 139k So im still unsure which road to take. I personally dont want to shell out 425 for an exhaust manifold...Is this a problem that WILL happen, or is it possible to take my chances with the $160 Cummins version?
Thanks

Since you plan to haul heavy and turn the pump up, I would not recommend wasting money on a stock manifold. Buy a 3 piece once and be done with it. I think HTT's is around $500.
