Broke 90* Nipple on Fuel Sending Unit
I went to drop out and remove my fuel tank yesterday and when I tried to remove the first quick-connect fuel line off the sending unit I took a little bit of the nipple with the fuel line when it popped out. It broke it, so now it looks like I'm going to need a fuel tank sending unit. It looks as if you might be able to remove the supply and return assembly out of the main fuel tank sending unit, but I don't know for sure if individual parts of the sending unit can and are cost-effective to replace. If not where is the best place to buy a new sending unit? Do I have to go to the dealer or make a trip to the junkyard for a good, used one? Auto parts stores still carry these new? It sucks that it broke that way as I was removing the quick-connects properly, but upon pulling it broke the nipple (just plastic of course it had to break). Anybody know if you can just replace the fuel in/out nipples seperately on the sending unit? Thanks.

I just broke mine too(the return line) and just found a replacement off of the classifieds here. When I get mine out I think I'll repair it using the same idea as the "bigger fuel Line" thread in the sticky under performance. Take a look it should give you an idea of how to fix it. Good luck.

Yea, I actually went outside earlier to take a look at the sending unit cause I have the tank sitting out on the driveway and it is the return line. I checked out the sticky too and it's your answer to upgrading the fuel supply side, but the return is unchanged. I love the pictures and steps to take it apart though as it sure does help if I do take it apart to fix. I figure I may be having to look for a good, used one though. We'll see I guess.

I thought that instead of using the spare bung for a larger supply line you could use it for the return OR upgrade to the larger supply line and use the factory supply line as the return. I do not have my sending unit out yet so I may be missing something.

Just get a Vulcan drawstraw I. It drops in the factory grommet, costs $40 and you can change the fitting out for whatever size you want. Plus, if you ever go to a larger fuel line you'll already have the drawstraw in place.
