Brake booster and Cruise both gone... Vacuum pump?

I haven't owned this truck all that long, and for as long as I've owned it, neither the power brake booster nor the Cruise control have worked. I'm starting to wonder if perhaps it's a problem with the vacuum pump...?

Anyone have any experience with this? Does it sound likely? Would there be other symptoms if the vacuum pump were dead? How would I test this theory?

Thanks,
Robox

That's entirely possible. Pull the line off the booster and put a vacuum gauge on it. If you don't have 8.5" of vacuum, the pump is toast or there's a leak in the line. A good healthy one will pull close to 20".

Other things noticeable will be the Brake warning light on the dash and the heater/defrost controls will be all screwed up.
