Borgeson Question

I see two Borgeson shafts that fit Dodge 79-93.

One has only one u-joint and a rag-joint part #940.

The other has two u-joints part #943.

Which is correct for the wife's 91.5 truck??

I prefer the two u-joint one and can see no advantage in the rag joint one.

Thanks.

both. the 943 replaces the rag, but only if the column has a splined fitting like the steering box end that comes off via a roll pin.

#943 with the two u joints can only work if rag joint hard ware is removable

As best I can see, immediately above the rag-joint is a roll-pin, going through the top portion of the joint and through the shaft.

Does this mean I get to use the good one, with two universals??

If so, OHHH GOODY!!

Thanks.

I woudl stick to the one with 1 rag joint, I would think that it would isolate some road feel from the steering wheel.

The technician at Borgeson (Gil Evans, gil@borgeson.com) advised me that if the truck is not lifted, one is better off going with the single U-joint shaft (part #940) and thereby maintaining the vibration dampening characteristics of the rag joint.

Summit sells the two shafts for essentially the same price, so cost should not be an issue in your decision.

I just ordered one to use with the rag as well. The rag really does help keep the vibrations out---->used to run borgensons on vw rails, and if you didnt have a rag the steering would feed back everything.

Mine's lifted 2" and I still have the rag joint. No complaints. Probably easier to install than dealing with another one of those stubborn roll pins.

I have a 91 and put the single u-joint, works great and you don't have to worry about all the steering slack that comes with the original coupler.
