There's a 1/8'' NPT plug on the drivers side of the head--that's where you want to be

I bought the little kit at my local auto parts store--it's got about 15' of 1/8'' nylon tubing a handfull of compression fittings and some basic adapters for about 7 clams. A few zipties and you'll be good to go.

I have nonintercooled so my plate is in the way, but the hole you need should be directly in line with your intake horn.

you revving it up while sitting still? You wont notice any boost reading while sitting. You have to put a load on it. Make sure you dont have any kinks in your boost line.

if you have vacuum then you have problems! lol there is no vacuum on diesel engines so not havin your finger sucked in the hole is a good thing. make sure the elbow you put in the head isnt a boost elbow (they usually have an allen screw on the top). i took the elbow from my turbo and put it on the head for a gauge and put a boost elbow on the turbo to turn it up a little.

Heres mine. I think the 1st gens have the same head?

The first pic shows the general location, boost line in the center. The second is a closer view. Sorry about the poor pics, I used my phone and it is kinda dark this morning.
