Boneyard Rims

After having a difficult time finding stock rims for my truck, for an extra set of tires I have, I finally found a boneyard with a early 90's w250 with a couple of rims on it. It was pretty complete, although a gasser unit, with trans, rear and engine still in the truck. 318 CID, I believe.

Anyway, they sold me the rims, and after scrubbing them down, I de-rusted them for paint. Turned out to be a decent set of rims for $50. These are only with the rust converter on them, and haven't been primed or painted as of yet.

They had tons of ford rims that would fit my truck, but since the dodge was there, I thought I'd stay with the pentastar emblem on them.

very nice choice. Those rims are the best fit for our trucks. Ford / Accuride 16x7 steels being a 2nd choice. Or Ford/Alcoa 16x7.

Terry Elders always responded to people with wheel/tire questions this blunt answer: The best thing to do is to put the stock rims and tires back on the truck.

I ran mine through the sand blaster first and painted them with an epoxy paint. The steel rims just have a certain appeal, don't they.

I like the factory steel wheels, and no hubcaps. Truck just don't look right with them.

I knew ford rims fit, but I thought chevy rims had the wrong size hole for the hub. Our rims have a 4 3/4" center hole with 4 1/2" backspacing, no ?

Isn't the chevy a 4 1/2" hole ?

Yes the chevy hole is too small, quick fix with a grinder.

one thing you should do is to take the wheels to a tire shop and see if they would spin them on a balancer, without tires first, to make sure that they are not bent.
One of mine was.

I sort of did that...

I removed my tire, installed the rim on the truck, then spun it Only takes 2 lugs just snugged in place, and both rims were in good shape. They both balanced well, even with my old set of mudders I had from the past year. I just need to pick up some closed lugnuts and I'm done.

Come down here and put one of those fancy shmancy wax jobs on my old blue truck, and I'll give you a set of factory dodge wheels and closed lug nuts
