Smile Bombin' a 92 ?

Hi Folks
I need some wiser heads here.

I have a 92 with an almost stock system. The muffler fell off some time ago . I had the pump rebuilt (Bosch shop) about 3 years (60,000 Mi.) ago and replaced the injectors with stock ones. Bobby turned it up to 96 cc per 100 strokes. The Getrag 360 has been replaced with an NV4500.
My boost & pyrometer gauges came this morning, installed the boost and now I am puzzled. There is almost no boost at anything but full throttle. Boost comes up to about 16 lbs. at; say 2000 rpms, under load, then when the speed steadies boost falls to nothing. If I drive the truck normally, I get very little boost, 0 to 3 lbs. Is this ok?
I am going at this bombing slowly, one thing at a time, little experience with diesel power.
When the PDR exhaust adapter gets here, next week, I’ll put on the 4” downpipe that came from Rip along with a straight pipe that dumps in front of the duals. Stack comes later. Pyrometer goes in post turbo in the new downpipe. I already have a 16-cm2 housing but haven’t installed it yet.
There is a 3200 gov. spring in the mail, somewhere.
Well, thanks in advance

Your boost sounds normal for a almost stock truck, especially if it has the 21cm lag master turbine housing. You will only have boost when under load, 0-5psi is normal for cruising once you get up to speed.

Throw that 16cm in there and drill and tap the manifold for a pre turbo pyrometer while your doing that.

Thanks for your reply JD
I was puzzled by no boost, guess I thought it would be more, longer, donn't know. This is almost like not havin' a trubo . I pull my 31 ft. t/t camper through the Smokies, which is like work right now.
I wanted to know what the temp was before adding the 16-cm2, for comparsion. It will be a couple of weeks before I get everything installed, then pump and injectors.
Thanks for clearin this up for me, guess nothing is broken.

This would be the excesively large turbine housing causing some of this.

Read this if you haven't already, https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...n&onlynewfaq=1
You'll probably want to tweak your pump to make it more drivable, get alittle more fuel in there before boost come up to spool the turbo alittle quicker.

Mine would run 22psi max with stock injectors with a tweaked pump.

Yes I have but thank you for pointing me in that direction. Wannadesiel has them listed on this site.
All of these tweaks will come in time, but slowly. This is a towing rig and must be dependable . More power but in small jumps. No sled pulling here .

Put the probe pre turbo. You are going to see a big differnce in the boost in reguards to when it comes on when you switch to the 16 cm.
