Just moved from Oregon to Colorado and noticed my engine performance has shifted a bit. For a while I was using Lucas diesel fuel additive (that didn't seem to do much) and so switched back to Stanadyne which but I'm curious if Hot Shot's Secret Diesel Extreme Diesel Fuel Additive might work best.

I've always used Power Service in the white bottle. It helps replace the lubricity lost when they went to ULSD.

Thanks. Certainly gets stellar reviews. Specifically does it increase power and even MPG in your case as it helps injectors stay clean etc.?

Same here for the same reason. I switch to gray in the summer. Plus some 2 cycle oil for even more lubricity.

I have a truck that runs better if I have a QT or two of 2 stroke oil in the tank.

I mix up a bottle of Walmart's finest 2 cycle oil with a bottle of white Power Service and a small bottle of Power Service Diesel Kleen to make an even 2 gallons. I've been running that mix for around 20 years with no problems. However, due to the cost and decreasing availability of both ingrediencies, I will be transitioning over to Hotshot. There was a "lubricity study" done by a group decades ago on this subject. I thought it was posted somewhere on this forum, but I can't find it. It shows a number of different well known additives and how they stood up to testing. I also believe there are some YouTubes on the subject.

I usually grab Penzoil. It needs to be the 3W type 2 cycle for low ASH or something? I DID read that here on the forum, a long time ago.

What's the difference in elevation from where you were in Oregon?

Only 5,200 feet. Folks say that such an elevation gain takes away 1%-3% of your power. Not quite sure about that so far.

I run Hot Shots secret EDT in my 1st gen and my 4th gen. Project Farm on YouTube did a wear test against different diesel additives and Hot Shot came out the winner. I believe Power Service was right behind it.

I trust his "study" as he doesnt take hand outs from companies and buys all his products he tests to be able to say what he wants and not be swayed.

Thanks. I have some on order to try soon. Stanadyne clearly isn't working as well here.

Just use waste oil. Sump oil,transmission fluid, hydraulic oil. Just be sure no water is in it. You will get more power and it will run quieter for free.

If you try to burn synthetic trans fluid you will soon have to rebuild your IP. DAMHIK. Type F might have grit in it.

I agree, no automatic transmission fluid for my Cummins motors either.
