Bed off Chassis restoration with pics!

Here is a bad picture of what spring hangers can look like, this was on my 96.

Took some time today to restore the chassis on my 92 so this never happens.

Dropped the fuel tank in order to do it right.

I've seen many a truck rot completely through in this area, this isn't going to happen any time soon on this old girl.

Time for a quart of chassis saver!

Its not done yet... its in the body shop getting the cab done, when it comes back it willl be reasembled to stock.

We're looking for your exact interior.. hard to find, near impossible.

The 91 non i/c's are fun. Good luck and good power, i bet that 92 is a flat out dog, i know our 93 is and the 93 even has the good exh. housing.

There is a guy (powerrammaster) that is selling an entire spice interior in the classifieds.

Nice work! What kind of paint did you use, and was it brushed or sprayed?

I just brushed it. Nothing fancy, as long as it doesn't rust.

Chassis Saver.

No primer, just get as much loose stuff off as possible, wipe with wax/grease or paint thinner to take off any oil or dust before painting.

No primer recomended, in fact they say not to use rust converter.

That looks like some pretty good stuff. Does it completely harden where it has a tendency to settle a bit? It looks similar to POR products. Thanks for the link!

I haven't heard of Chassis Saver, but Eastwood sells Corroless paint (I can't remember exactly what they call it even though I have 3 cans sitting around), which is also very similar to Rust Bullet. They're all way better than POR-15, which is a different kind of thing.

With the prep work you did to your chassis I doubt you'll need to worry about rust again for many years, though!
