Banks Kit
First off I am new to this site but feel its one of the most informative sites out there. I recently bought a 93 w-250 I was told it has a banks kit. I guess my question is it appears to be an early kit and just what might that include. I know it has an intake and exhaust but the turbo housing has a external wastegate which im told is not normal? I want upgrades but why upgrade whats already been done. I will post pics if need be.

Sounds like you might have the big banks kit that came with exhaust, intercooler and a 14cm wastegated exhaust housing. Post some pictures of the exhaust housing or try to see what the numbers are it could be a 12cm.

Welcome to our forums!
I think you have a 14cm waste-gated exhaust housing. A good thing. (expensive too! )
If the Banks kit was the full-blown kit, you may also have the Technicooler. Again a good thing.
EDIT ~ DLittle beat me to the post.
If all thus far rings true (and the kit was installed correctly including minor fuel screw tweaks), then you still have the options of a 3200rpm governor spring, larger injectors, tweak the fuel screw more, tighter torque converter, . . . . . . .

Thanks for all the help, the guy I bought it from said the previous owner had it tuned up and he had it tuned down (what was he thinking). Im only running at most 15 pounds of boost. I can tell its been messed with the injector pump was tweaked at one point. I just dont really know how to get it back to what it was

If it helps, the Banks kit on my '91.5 consists of:
Exhaust housing (waste gated)
full exhaust
K & N filter
Bigger inter-cooler
Gauges
turn full power screw 120 deg.
"Banks Turbo" fender tags
It ran 18 - 19 psi boost set up as instructed by Banks.

What exact number am I looking for I see the serial number on the exhaust housing and I see a number that says I believe 12/27 if that sounds correct. Are the numbers on the exhaust side of the housing? I know I have the banks intercooler, guages, exhaust.
