Autometer Tach sensor mounting positon?

I recently bought a set of guages for my truck (Tach, boost, pyro, and trans temp). I was looking at the tach hookup where is says to mount the probe to the alternator, but it doesnt specify where on the alternator, or doesn't that matter? My other question is is there a port to hook up the boost line or is it a DIY job. Just curious before I put a hole in the line. Thanks

Welcome to the list.

I can only tell ya what I did on my '92. I have the same tac, pyro and boost gauges. I don't believe it makes a difference where on the alternator it goes. It works on a magnetic field and it goes all around the alternater.
