Autometer Boost gauge issue

Hey guys. Went over to Piers today and picked up my gauges and a 3200 spring. Got an Autometer Phantom Pyro and Boost. Got everything hooked up in a few hours and everything is working great EXCEPT for my boost gauge. I'm not registering any boost whatsoever. I hooked it up as per the suggestion here: https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...=boost+fitting
I've got pressure coming through the hose (when it's disconnected) but the gauge ain't registering a bloody thing. I blew as hard as I could in the back of the gauge while my buddy watched the gauge and nothing. Now this may be a stupid question, but do I have a defective gauge or am I missing something here?

Thanks...
Mike

If you are getting pressure thru the hose it sounds like a bad gauge to me.

Did you drive it?

You cannot make any pressure just by blowing in it. Or sitting in the drive way reving it up.

Just an idea.

You can't ???
Maybe I'd better check my gauge.
When I floor it I get 8 - 10 psi and smoke out the stack. Neither stays for long, but it's there.

Ok, maybe it will show some, but its going to depend on pump mods, turbo, etc.

I wouldn't condemn it without driving.

Yep I drove it. Gonna fire up the compressor and put the blow gun to the back of it and see what happens.

Watch how much you feed to the gauge....
Don't want to feed a 60 psi gauge with 100 psi of pressure...
Not good for the gauge

Okay I finally tested it out. Gauge works fine with the compressor hooked up to it. I disconnected the hose/fitting from the head and put it back together off the truck. Everything's fine. Soap-and-watered all the joints for leaks and there were none. No kinks anywhere in the hose either.

Would it make any sense to drill/tap the intake elbow to get my readings from that? I know my truck's turbo is fine because she gets up and buggers off in a hurry. There's plenty of boost, I'm not even concerned about that.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks again.

Have you driven the truck yet?

Like Curt said, no load = no boost.

Keep an eye on it. Mine sticks sometimes when I first get in the truck on really hot days - until I hit it with 20 psi or so, then it works fine.

Thanks Wanna, will do. I'm only at 17-18 psi at WOT right now so maybe I'll just have to smack 'er around a little more
Now I'm gonna go finish puttin' my 3200 in and tweak out the pump a little more.

The more and more I work on this old girl, the more and more I want to keep workin' on her. Good thing I'm not married or I'd have on PO'd old lady

Cheers guys and gals

I have to 'tap' my Autometer on the face a little to get it to move at low pressures.

Oh the advantages of a digital gauge

I get to enjoy watching mine idle at 0.5 lbs
