auto transmission troubles
A friend of mine has an intercooled 91 d-250 with an automatic transmission in it. The transmission has been rebuilt but still doesn't seem to shift into overdrive right sometimes, was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I was wondering if it may be the sensor on the top of the rearend, but I don't know much about automatics. Any advice would be appreciated. Also, anybody know how to get the cover off of that sensor on the rearend.
Thanks.
Thanks.

That's the RWAL sensor and it has nothing to do with the trans.
If the speedo doesn't act funky, it's the TPS. If the speedo is jumpy or not working all the time, it's the VSS on the trans.

Make sure you check the wiring before replacing the sensor. The wiring & plug sometimes cause problems causing needless sensor replacements. (mine did this when dad had it)
