The boys pickup feels like its in drive even in reverse. Its a gas pickup with auto trans but you guys know so much about trucks that I thought maybe you might have an idea the linkage seem to be adjusted right.

 

If it goes foreward in neutral, and just binds in reverse, it is the foreward clutches are burned and frozen. A rebuild is necessary. When this is the case you have to shut the truck off the move it backwards.

 

That describes it perfectly not what I wanted to hear but I knew you guys would know what was wrong. Any way to fix it temp to get it home to fix he lives about 50 miles away in school. Thanks for the response.

Push it out of its parking place, put it in neutral, start it up and drive it, knowing that you have no neutral and no reverse. It should ot give you trouble in that distance. I drove one thousands of miles that way, did not have the money to fix it. Good luck with it.
