Auto trans upgrade path
Ok, got the gauges. Starting on air and exhaust mods. Now for the trans. I will be towing 6000# max. I am thinking of torgue converter (which one?) shift kit and 2nd gen flex plate. I should not have to have any upgraded valves will I? thanks.

Are you going to add anymore power to the engine? If you're going to be towing with it at stock or moderate power levels, I think that a hughes would be fine for you. If you want to tow and run bigger horsepower, then look into suncoast, GB, ATS, DTT, etc.
As for the valve body, I think a shift kit would work good for what I described above. I went with a custom GB one because I didn't want to spend the time putting in the shift kit and still not have it perform like mine did out of the box from goerend. I also trust with a professional will do with the valve body over what I can do with it.

I just installed the Hughes TC and a Transgo TFOD shiftkit. I am very happy with the results so far, I am towing around #6000 to #7000 travel trailer.
I gained 3 MPGs light and 1 MPG towing. While your in there, R&R your rear main seal and the front tranny seal. The only negative is you will have to send your TC to Hughes, they dont have any cores, they rebuild and modify the one you send them. Turnaround is no more than 1 week. Do a search, you will find more info on Hughes. I was able to do it all for less then $500

That is part of the reason why I chose TCI and after reading plenty of testimonies, and I think it's a toss up at this level (cheap) but better than stock.

I did all the work myself..... I shipped the TC to Hughes in Phoenix AZ
Do a search on Hughes, you will find contact info.
I forgot to mention, I also put in a second gen flexplate from Cummins $110
Additional. Still happy with the results!
