I also don't run the temperature switch for the fan, I use a toggle switch hooked to a relay to turn on the fan.

I like that idea. 8)
I installed the Derale #15800 (25000 GVW) and and #15721 Thermostat and love it. These are available for Jegs and Summit at a good price. I went to the hardware store and bought brass flare fittings and copper tubing to plumb mine.
Stevie G- you should be careful using copper pipes. Copper work hardens and will become brittle especially in a high vibration locations. I would change the lines to steel, which are also avialable from Summit, rather than risk a line failure

Steel is on the list of things to do. The copper was in the shop and I was on a deadline to have the truck ready for a trip. Thanks for bringing that up.

Re:auto trans aux. cooler
One advantage to running trans. fluid thru aux. cooler first is that it won't heat up engine coolant via the heat exchanger - something to consider. I have noticed engine temp. climbs alot on long grades running empty and have wondered if the trans. is contributing to this. I read some threads about this on DTT's website.

Re:auto trans aux. cooler
I recently installed aux cooler w/ fan to bypass leaking cooler on pass side of engine. However, the cooler I installed has 3/8 tubing where the truck has 1/2 steel lines. Is this reduction in flow gonna cause major malfunctions in the future for me - anyone else had success with a setup like this?

Have you been considering a trans temp gauge? Since you are plowing as well, it might be a good idea, and you will be able to monitor your temps and let us know how the cooler is working.

Normal operating temp of ATF is about 180*F.... look on the dipstick and it'll say ".... check fluid at operating temp of...."
It does on mine.... remember the second gen trucks run cooler than our old girls due to the lockup TC...

Re:auto trans aux. cooler
I finally hooked up my trans temp gauge while putting in the cooler. Did not go over 150 degrees on an unloaded 70 mile highway trip in 90 degree weather. I guess the gauge is the best indicator of reduced line size problems - and with the aux fan mounted on the cooler I should be OK.
