auto tranny going???
my auto tranny has been nothing less than junk since I have had the truck to begin with the 12v has got the power pumping through but it just seems that old auto cant put it to the tires. I was pulling a 18 ft gooseneck with lumber back from lowes saturday morning when taking off from a red light up hill it pulled through first like normal then hit second and started jumping similar to what a truck does under a bind when your about to throw a u-joint. I immediately let out and pulled over the u-joint was fine no fluid leaking anywhere so i started back down the road without instance until yesterday afternoon driving to town shifted into second and started hopping again then it shifted on to third but wouldnt hold in gear kept wanting to down shift (no load at all on the truck). so i let out slowed down and manually shifted back to first and then back to drive and couldnt get the truck to do it again. By the way its a 93 w250 with a few small pump tweaks and exhaust other than that stock. What should I do, were to start

More than likely it needs to be rebuilt. The action you are describing sounds like the front band sliping and then trying to hold, not being able to hold the outside the front drum firmly. Hyd. pressure low. Replace the torque converter while you have got it out.

If you're going to rebuild the tranny (and from the description, it sounds like you should) then there is no reason you shouldn't replace the converter. All Dodge trucks came from the factory with less than desireable converters, so a new one will make your truck feel better than when you first got it.
