auto to getreg
well im still trying to find better prices on the transmision swap, but i am seeing that people convert there getreg 360 to nv4500, is the getreg all that bad?, also how much did the swap cost you roughly? i found a getreg 360 used for $1995 CAD, im gonna work on him a bit for a decrease in price, also found a bellhousing from the same guy for $175 a slave and master cylinder kit for $150. i called a local junkyard and found a clutch pedal assembly for $150. my truck is a 4x4 and was wondering if the getreg would bolt up to the np205, the nv4500 swap says i would have to change the spline shaft out for a 29 spline and get the transfercase machined to fit, is this required for the getreg swap?. has any one swapped there auto for a getreg? the nv4500 seams a little out of my price range since im only in highschool.
Thanks in advance, Gregg

oohh ok, well at least i have an idea about how much they go for because $2000 seamed a bit steep for the tranny alone with out a rebuild or anything, i am wanting to go for the getreg though, nv4500 sounds like they are pricy to rebuild.

the parts aren't that bad my uncles done one twice in a truck witha 6.5 chevy. the thing i don't like is that 5th gear is on the outside of the case in its own housing with small oil passages to lube it as far as i remember. where as the getrag is all in one case with tapered roller bearings through out, but it has a bad oiling system unless you over fill it.
all baseed on what i have seen i might not have all the info but wanted to tell you what i have noticed. and i am not running my getrag over full and i use 80-90 weight gear lube with no trans problems over 40,000 miles on it since i've had it.

rbrettctd i cant believe you got that good of a deal wow, well im gonna call around tomorrow and see what i scrounge up, the Getreg sounds like it isent to bad at all, as long as everything is oiled, unlike my auto that got ran almost dry by the previous owner, problem with living up in northern canda is there arent to many of these trucks, and the ones that there are are still being drivin whitch i canot complain about, there is about 5 in my town and 3 or so in the next town over, should try to get them on here. anyway yeah ill see what i can find for better prices.

i dont know about the trans but it might be easier to get the clutch petal out of a gas truck of the same body style. and what brand is the transmission in the 95?

i don't see why it wouldn't work because the adapter plates are the same i think and if you arn't sure you could get the adapter for the 95 too if it has it.

94 and up diesel would have the NV4500HD. T-case won't work because it has the front driveshaft on the drivers side. You need a pass. side front driveshaft. You are going to need the Adance Adapters bellhousing to run the 4500. Unless you want to get the 2nd gen engine adapter and hydraulics. 2nd gen pedal won't fit.
