ATS aurora compounds???
well i got talkin to a guy i know yesterday with 2 2nd gen 24 valves that are pretty heavily modded and on the one truck he had i believe the ATS aurora 3000 and 5000 compounds on it, he said he upgraded to a bigger twin setup, using a Super B and somethin else, and he asked me if i was interested in buyin them, and he gave me a price and it is a dang good deal! he said they're pretty much new and only have like 1000 miles on them. I told him i just had an he351 on it right now and he said he had all the plumbing and everything to maybe even make it work so i could use my he351 with one of these other ones. I wasn't really plannin on goin to twins, I was just gonna go with a big single, but with a deal like this, i cant pass it up. I told him i would need head studs, a tranny and lot more fuel to run them, and told him i'd think about it, and told him i probably couldn't get them til this summer, and he said thats fine and that he'll still have them if i'm interested.
So has anyone had ATS compounds on a 1st gen? or would they even fit my truck? or could i maybe get my he351 to work as one of the turbos? I'm not too familiar with this compound business, but i'm lookin around for info. thanks.

you could use the he351 with the aurora 5000 as the primary (bottom) turbo. as with the 3rd gens, you'd probably have to flip your exhaust manifold to make it fit. heater lines shouldn't be in the way. other than that, i think it'd work out. maybe some firewall forming (sledgehammer ) for a downpipe and inner fender trimming for clearance of the bottom turbo.

I'll think i'll still keep my hood stack if i can get it to fit cuz i don't wanna deal with a downpipe and i like the hood stack.
So i asked him how much he wanted and he said oh like maybe $800. and i was like wow! that is a killer deal thats like a $5,000 setup for $800!!! so i think i'll talk to him again and make sure thats the price he wants and tell him i want them, but probably not til this summer til i get more money and get a 47rh in this thing.
How much boost do ya think i could get to with these twins? I've got PODs right now and my afc lever out and my power screw close to runaway, do ya think i even have enough fuel to push them or will i need some bigger sticks? If i go with these, i'll probably go with some 6x18s later on but for now do ya think i could i turn them?
also i got thinkin if one turbo happens to go, it will probably take out the other one, so do they put screens in the piping so if one goes, it wont ruin the other one?
I'm gettin pretty excited about this, I'm kinda new to this twin stuff but i'm up for another adventure

Wow thats a steal...
I think an Aurora 5000 is a K31 "big brother"
A- 3000..I THINK its a 62/65. and the A-2000 is a 57/65 (s300g)
either way, $800 holy crap, get that.
I hope you have plans to do a headgasket upgrade and some studs ?????

yeah i know its a good deal, like i said i wasn't plannin on goin twins, but with a deal like that, i cant say no.
ha ha and i think thats why he's givin me such a good deal on them, cuz where we live in a small town and there isn't many modded diesels around, he kinda likes the fact that i'm into diesels too like him, and he likes my old 1st gen so i think thats why he wants to sell it to me. I would feel bad if i sold bought them that cheap and then sold them for more money, cuz i know he would ask how they were workin for me, besides i think i wanna try them, they sound fun!
Yeah i plan on doin all the head work and everything before i put them on, ported and polished, head studs, new gasket, and probably O-ringed. And i was plannin on gettin a built 47rh in it too if i can find one, cuz i know the stock trans right now will not stand a chance with twins.
Do ya think i can push them with the fuel i have right now though???
Has anyone ever put this setup on a 1st gen???

you never know till you try smokin' blacky
I'm more worried about now (especially with the pods)..is fuel GETTING to the injection pump. i bet at 1/2 pedal your fuel pressure is at 0

You will be able to push them just fine, bigger injectors would help quite a bit tho. I wouldn't worry about all the head work- just do a new gasket, get the head flat and some studs. You WILL see a large gain in performance but it will prob be laggier than your 351. I dont really care for ATS stuff myself but for 800 bucks I would def buy and put them on right away.

ATS only paints their products purple for advertising. only in pictures is when you'll see purple. just like their clutches, they're not ATS parts, they're southbend parts. ATS doesn't even repackage them, they just forward the southbend box onto whoever ordered it.
