I run into those guys at the gas station. My truck isn't much to look at, but runs pretty well. I get the " newer is more powerfull " speech often. I smile and tell them what a nice looking truck they have, and I drive away. I rarely show off, but when i do, I try and make it as humilliating as possible.

there were a few 98.5 4 door trucks that got the 12v engine so i guess it's possible. take alook under the hood, the p-pump would be VERY noticable. i know that in 93 some people got the nv4500, i didn't think they did anything like that with the autos, but if he got a p-pump motor theres a posibility it's got the lock up tranny behind it, lol. really, like it was said above, i wouldn't be sure til i looked under the hood!. as far as biodiesel goes. i beleive that anything that has an intercooler has the plastic lines needed and the non-ic have the rubber lines that would deteriorate. there still could be some issues in the diaphram lp and maybe a few seals in the inj. pump if everything is original. from what i've heard if the pump has been resealed most of the new stuff can hold up just fine to the bio.

i must add... i have met many "one-up"s and they annoy me to no end. and it's very possible that this guy is. i'm just saying that on the change over years, sometimes crazy things happen!

Ive seen under his hood a number of times, and it is DEFINITELY a Rotary pump 12v. No doubt about it. Ive seen dozens of 1st gens and this truck is identical to every one Ive ever seen.

I did not notice the hole until you said that!. It must just be the bracing in the sheet metal they cut out in that hood, that is defiantly a 4bt in that truck, looks like some kind of thin blue insulation though. That would be a fun truck if it all stays together.

I have put a 4bta in a Jeep TJ with a G-rag, Ford 205 and 8-lug Ford Dana 44HD and Dana 60 and a 97 6bta in a 67 Jeep M715 1 1/4 ton weapons carrier and a Dana 70 front and 80 rear and lots of other mods on other trucks. It may have other things in it but most guys are full of it. I also have an Allison 545 in my 92 but I don't try to act like its a special stock part. It took a lot of work to go from Fraightliner to dodge but I did it with some help.
