Arguing with the less educated

I got into a argument today with a guy who is not so educated in the CTD field, not that Im a mastermind by any means. He claims his truck has a special heavyduty D60 in front and special D70 in back as well as special auto tranny. (a plain 518). Its a 93 W350 single wheel, totally stock. He also claims his truck is special cause it has a 94 engine in it...Its about as much a 1st gen engine as could be. He also argued with me that we were biodiesel ready...I had read a few months ago that we needed different fuel lines, i believe, before we could. I didnt let it get too heated as I didnt want to find myself wrong and have footinmouth syndrome. Just want someone to let me know Im on the right path.

As far as his education on diesels go, im trying to get him to join up here and read a few things for his own good.
Thanks in advance. Randy

I have heard that some 93 and up have the correct fuel lines, not sure about the dodge. All the Dana 60's were the same and to tell the truth all the first gens ran a Dana 70-U that uses smaller main bearings than the regular 70 or 70HD. You can look on the housing and it is cast into the center section it will have 70-U. If it has a P-pump in it he or someone put it in there. If its a rotary its stock.

I thought we only had those people around my neck of the woods.

If they have a chainsaw, tractor, lawn-mower, or whatever, it is some special, limited availability, bigger engine, more power, only a few made like it, that has an industrial strength something-or-other, that, in reality, is about as bone-basic as they ever came, and the cheap grade at that.

Dealers pick up on this and play them, convincing them that the one they bought is a one of a kind that the manufacturers didn't mean for the public to have.

They are all over the world. What ever you have they have something better. If you said lied and said you had a GE jet-turbine engine under the hood they would say that they had a Saturn 5 rocket engine from the Apollo missions just to make it sound bigger and better . The first person to say what he has, has no chance of having the best if you have a group of those guys. They will always have something better.

I also had a conversation with a guy at a fueling station that he told me his 96 12 valve had a chip in it. I just smiled and went on my way.

We have a guy just like that by me, everyone calls him 'One Up', because it doesn't matter what you or anybody else has done, he's done one better.

I can't tell you how many times I've called on one of these trucks for sale and heard "Special brakes, one ton suspension/axles/brakes, their uncle worked at Dodge and they put all HD parts on it on the line". Of course I think Dodge got caught up in it too, because W250's and W350 SRW's are exactly the same...

I never say anything until I see under the hood!, you never know what you will find, fords and Chev's with Cummins, first gens with p-pumps and NV 4500 or 47 Rh conversions, small block Chevy's or 4 cyl Cummins in Toyota's. It is any ones guess. look at this toy with the 4bt it would be a blast http://spokane.craigslist.org/car/285187107.html I'm am sure your guy was off his rocker but you never know.
