Anybody run a side exit exhaust?

Just thinking out loud here. I was looking at the HT3B I just got (wow it's large) and it has a 5" outlet. I hear that on the four wheel drives a full 5" exhaust is a little difficult to do, so I was wondering if you could just have the exhaust exit out the side past the front wheel? I imagine it would be very loud.

3b's are quiet in twins and have the nicest whine/hum to the exhaust and compressor. They just sing. That being said a 4" exhaust will handle all you can put through it. 5" is not an absolute necessity.

I don't really want to go to a full 5" exhaust. If I can reduce it back to a 4" exhaust, I would be ok with that.

Well I dont even plan on getting half of that, so the issue seems to be settled. I was just a little worried that since the outlet on the turbo was 5" you couldn't reduce it to 4".

I'd like to do that, if I could bring the exhaust out OVER the frame. I'd probably rip it off going under. Make room for another fuel tank where the muffler currently resides.

I bet 100 gallons of fuel on board would make it ride better!

I had mine out the side for a while, and it turns everything black and it bubbled the paint right by the exhaust from the heat (not that I am worried about paint)....it's out the back now.

Mine exists out the passenger side in front of the rear wheels. I have running boards that is goes under. I've had no issues with heat and being a dually I think that's why I don't get much soot on my wheels or side of my truck.
