another hair-brain idea?
I've been thinking. I don't really want to turn my motor over the 2500 RPM stock governor setting, but it would be nice to run a tighter converter. Could I do a cam swap to lower my torque peak to about 1400-1500 RPM, and still run the tighter converter, and a gear vendors, without raising my redline?

I'm gonna say . . . . . Dunno. Diesel's are different from gassers when it comes to the cam. Call Zach Hamilton ~ http://www.hamiltoncams.com/
I run one of his 181/210 cams and among other things, it broadened the power plots in my application.

Mine has some kind of aftermarket cam in it and its great. It has all of its power between 1000-1750 rpm, but anything over and the power falls off fast. Let me explain, If im running at 2200rpm with a good load in tow and come to a decent sized hill it will gradually slow down to about 1800rpm and stay there without having to give it more throttle. I can also pull hills at 1100rpm in 5th but I wouldn't recommend doing that on a regular basis. The only downside is with 3.54's and the getrag my top speed is usually no more than 65, it will run faster but the power just isn't there. Long story short it will make your truck sound and feel like a whole new animal.

I don't like the Powerjoke and Dura-mux because they are v8s and they have to rev more. But I would like my powerband down a little more similar to a pre-emissions 60 series.
