Thumbs up Amsoil....WOW!!!

Swapped the Getrag over to Amsoil finally. I put 5 qts of Castrol (all the gas station had when doing the swap) to run for 200miles to flush the tranny....6500 miles later.... Only got the oe 3.5 qts in. had the right side jacked up with the tires a foot off the ground and still couldnt get more than 4 qts in and lost some when putting the plug in. But with 3.5 of the amsoil manual synchromesh tranny oil vs 5 qts of castrol- WOW!!! the 4th gear low speed groan/rattle I had is now gone, and gears seem to fall into place. Next is the differential oil and in 5k the engine. Im a fan now...

And to think, some people still can't believe. That is all I run. That is the boat, the car, the lawn mower, and the Dodge.

Any variety of synchromesh fluid will give similar results.

I'm not sure on the differential, but my 05 1500 limited slip requires an additive and the Mopar stuff is already synthetic. Not dissing Amzoil, it's good stuff. I tried it on Wheaties, but it gave me the runs. jk

Randy, why don't you go on and pull the shifter and get that last quart in it? Better safe than sorry and i don't wanna pull that getrag out to rebuild it again.

Dad started arguing with me that he doesnt see how the extra 1.5 quarts would help...so well just have to do the overfill without his knowledge to keep him happy.

Im probably gonna do the pto hole method...I was trying it this way cause I had a nice setup, funnel with 6' of hose, and a heater core elbow from the help section of oreilly that slid right in the fill hole. Worked great for 3.75 qts.

Congrats, rbrett.

If you like your tranny results, just wait till you swap out the axle and motor.
I remember when I switched my FJ60s axles over to AmsOil I spent the rest of the day relearning how to take off in 1st cause I was breaking the rear loose on everything but pavement =D

randy, do yourself a favor and stop by orielly's. pick up the little hand "oil pump" it looks like it belongs on the top of a soap bottle. the little hose that comes with it fits perfectly in the top pto bolt. pump til you are at 5 qt. pop the hose out and immediately put the bolt in. you won't lose more than a few drops and the pump only costs like $5 or something like that, saves a lot of headache.

I used Amsoil MTG in my NV4500. It seems to have been the ticket. I'm sure that if I had paid the $30 a quart for the mopar oil it would have worked just as well. Amsoil was less than $10 a quart and specified for the transmission.
