am i over paranoid??!?!?
so i got my lift pump in FINALLY! and it seemed to run fine after my test drive. i was coming home from work today and thought i heard an odd noise... but i dont know if im over paranoid that somethings wrong. i would assume if i made a dumb mistake like didnt tighten the bleeder bolt all the way it would not run or my quarter tank would have diminished quickly. and if didnt tighten the lift pump enough something would be wrong but there are no leaks.
dumb question but does the arm ride on the cam lobe or does it go around the cam lobe? like the lobe would ride inside it
and maybe im just hearing the lift pump actually working????
i curse myself so much for not knowing these things and being over paranoid!!!!!!

IM pretty sure the arm coming out of the pump rides on the cam lobe. (at least the piston pump).im looking at a piston pump right now and there is no way the cam could ride inside the arm because its straight.

Did you carve out the areas good enough for a proper fit? You have to really get in there and cut away a bit of plastic on the engine block for proper fit and alignment of cam and lift pump arm. The spacer and all that is needed.
A person can tighten it up even though it isn't seating properly and not get a fuel leak because the lines are some what flexible and tight. I would say look for oil leak near your LP.
Other than that if you know the sound is coming from the LP it may be worth your wile to take it apart again and inspect the situation asap.
I'm surprised you can hear the LP with the Cummins running.

With Motor off,
Crack the fuel bleeder screw and manually pump the LP with your hand. Should lift fuel up to the screw very nicely.
That's is one way of seeing if it is working but don't know if the arm on the other side is a separate acting from the push pump.
