alternator

Hey guys, my alternator went out on the way back home this weekend. I was wondering if you all knew of a good place to get a replacement that might be a bit better quality than say AutoZone, NAPA, or Advance? AutoZone is the cheapest at $120 something. Any help would be appretiated.

did you have the alternator checked to ,make sure that it is really bad. I made the dumb mistake of not checking it and figured it was bad but really it was just a cheap relay. haha As for the new one that i bought I am not exactly sure what brand it is, but it works good and now I have my old one as a Spare I guess.

If it still spins good, you can throw new brushes in it for next to nothing. Any of the reman alternators are about the same. Pick the one with the best warranty.

If it spins easy as Dave said grab ohm meter, across two terminals you should get 7 or 8 ohms, then do each one to the case. If theres an open circuit from terminal to the case chunk it, if not grab set of brushes. Its a very cheap bet.
