Afc Question

I took the little washer of off my pin and was wondering if that will hurt anything?I have heard alot of people shave them down so I thought I would just take it off.I think it did do some good though. But I dont want to mess anything up if it needs to be there.

When I used NeedMoPower's Old Smoky Fuel Pin on my dyno run we dropped the little nylon washer and it got up and ran off. I drove around like that for about 700 miles. No change in power, mpg, or anything noticeable. The pin was set at the deepest setting.

He gave me another, but it was too thick, so I went to the local pumpshop and they gave me one for free.

When I pulled the Fuel Pin I noticed the little shaft had ridden up on the fuel pin further than it should have, meaning the fuel pin was going down too far.

No damage or anthing, I threw the new nylon washer in there and been driving since.

They nylon washer is not something that will keep the engine from operating, but does help performance. By installing a thinner/shaved washer on a stock fuel pin, the guide pin travel a bit farther, giving the maximum potential of the stock fuel pin. By completely removing the washer, the fuel pin will travel past the deepest point, and the guide pin will be pushed back in a bit. It will give more power for a short amount of time, the take it away. This can be seen on a dyno graph, and by closely watching a boost gauge. The same holds true for the Power Pin. There is no harm in running without one for a while, but it would be best to install the correct thickness washer as soon as you can.
