AFC lever ground......

I got the AFC lever ground today. From the time i started until the time i was done was about 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Smoke is CRAZY at bottom end. Truck pulls allot harder and boost went up from 28 to ???? since my 30 PSI gauge pegs instantly.

Definately a good mod for the price....

I can just about hit 800 F post turbo now.....

It feels like the AFC is gutted...i've heard the AFC is still functional with the lever ground??? I gotta run up the starwheel to try to delay fueling...

Took the plunge, eh? hehe. The AFC is definitely still functional with the grind, it's just the fuel rack will travel as much farther as you ground off before boost comes on, which, as you've found out=black cloud! Pull the starwheel right to the top of it's threads and drive with your little toe until about 10psi and it'll be pretty clean. Maybe 15psi with the pods...Pretty sweet bang for the buck, eh?

Congrats, you need the star wheel flush with the top to control some smoke... the other trick is to cut a hole in your shoe and drive with your pinky toe

I want to do this mod so bad, but I'm pretty sure the clutch will explode if I do. Aw, heck, I'm going to do it anyway!

On the smoke- Like Greg said, go easy on the accelerator at low RPM and you can drive clean. Do what he said with the starwheel, you are now trying to delay AFC fueling as long as you can.

Get a real boost gauge on there - you don't want to pop the head gasket with that big hybrid.

I think anything under 40psi is the safe zone for H1C/HX35 center sections (overspeeding) I finally gave in and backed my boogie screw way out to cure the bent needle syndrome on my 40psi gauge...I'm set to waste at 30 psi and now it does just that when I nail it in 4th and 5th---makes it more of a no-brainer since my gauges are kinda hard to see.

I have my wastegate set for 40 psi. Any higher makes me nervous for the turbo and the head gasket. When I first got the Stage IV, I had a 16 cm housing on there. Boost got as high as 50 psi with water/meth, and 45 psi was easy on straight diesel. At that time I had the stock gov. spring and the AFC lever was untouched. I would expect that you are capable of at least 45 psi with your setup.

Aaron - you have a different pump. Are you trying to do this to a 1st gen or your truck?

Wow! You'd have probably been pushing 60psi with the AFC grind and the 3200 spring. That's enough to spit out the head gasket!
