What is the verdict on add a leaves? They should add about 1 1/2 inch of clearance. but how bad does the ride suffer? Anyody have them installed?

I wouldn't do it, personally. 1st gens don't need any help in the rough riding department.

I say nay! The PO had them on my 92 I replaced them with the skyjacker softrides. The only way to go in my opinion. The ride is so much better.

You could add the leaf and a concrete bedliner to improve the ride. :-)

It makes it ride a little harder but not by much. I added a 4" skyjacker this past summer. Ride was ok but dipped in the front a little. I added a extra Add-A-Leaf in the front only which brought it up rather well. Mostly because I have a 1000 lb plow I use during the winter. That helped a lot this winter and truck sits level when the plow is on. Only problem now is the back is a little low due to the extra weight I have for ballast. I should add another leaf back there but will wait until summer to see what it looks like with summer tires on.

The ride isn't much harsher but it is.

I have an add a leaf in the front end. The ride is stiffer, but not so much that it bothers me. Maybe I'm just tolerant, or it could be that my other vehicle is an 83 CJ, and I've never had anything that didn't ride like the axles were welded to the frame!!

I put air bags under mine. The ride isn't that bad at 80#, but when I hook up the 5er it isn't bad at all.
