I agree with you in that I think the AA kit makes it so much easier! But my dad is the typical old guy (no disrespect), he has this option in his head and is kind of hell bent. But I know the thought of bending or cutting the frame is not something he wants to do. Bullit is there anyway the strater can make contact? When you say its tight how close is it. 1/4"? Closer?

I used all 2001 parts. It had the hi torque mini starter, maybe their starters are different. It was super close to the frame, and if you start it or give it fuel, the engine rocks and it'll hit. You only have to notch the top of the frame, it really doesn't take away any structural integrity I don't believe. It never cracked and I had it in a huge lifted truck that saw lots of abuse.

Ok, so if uses the 2nd gen plate, and bell he already has all he needs is a 2gen starter and clutch slave kit. Are there any differences in the flywheels? Can he use a 2nd gen flywheel and a factory Sachs clutch kit? Or a stock 1st gen flywheel with a Sachs clutch kit? I know that 2nd gens use a smaller clutch does that mean the flywheels are different? And if he uses a 1st gen flywheel will he run into clearance issues with the bell? Thanks

I been waiting for at least 3 years for a definite answer on this question! Does the first gen flywheel & Sachs clutch work with the second gen bellhousing, release bearing and engine adapter plate? What is the correct working configuration?
