Accelerator rod bushing

Accelerator rod bushing
91 W350 4x4 - non intercooled
I'm getting a leak from the accelerator rod in my injection pump. I know this is a fairly common problem. Is this something I can do at home? Does the pump need to come off? If it is something I can do, what are the details on the bushing I need to buy to fix this? With the price of fuel I can't afford to lose any down the side of the block.
thanks

I had this problem a while ago, it seemed to go away then I put the 3200rpm GS in and then it leaked really bad. So I replaced the bushing and 0-ring and no leak. The pump does not have to come off, just the top of the pump, then I used a couple sockets and a vice to press the bushing in and out. Fairly easy.

The Bosch part number for the throttle shaft is: 1-463-161-849 listed as "shaft".
The o-ring is normally part of a new throttle shaft assembly but if you need that number
it is: 1-460-210-008 and is listed as "o-ring".
You may also want to look into getting the breakover spring, part number: 1-464-651-430 listed as: "coiled spring.
The next item which is a "wear item" is the plate with post sticking up that has the post stick in between the ends of the breakover spring...they wear out over time...
That part number is: 1-461-901-489 listed as "control lever.
I found these numbers doing a search back through the old posts. I couldn't find the part number for the actual bushing though. Any bosch shop should be able to look it up. The one I go to can you have to go to the service department for them to lookup the part number apparently the parts department can only get parts if you have the part numbers. I'll try to find it tonight if I remember.

Any Bosch or Cummins shop should be able to get you the VE gasket/seal kit. Part number:
Gasket Kit # DGK121 (Bosch) Expect to pay 15.00 This is a complete re-seal pump kit.
Will have the bushing in the kit.

Thanks for the help guys
Got the re-seal kit and took it all apart today. What a PITA. Anyway, got the O-ring installed, the shaft actually didn't even have an o-ring left in place, no wonder it leaked. I found the shaft stripped where it attached to the plate. Every time I tightened the 8mm allen bolt that holds it all together the shaft would rotate clockwise. I ended up having to tack weld the shaft to the plate to keep it together enough to get it to run. I'll order a replacement shaft for it next week. But at least it now runs, and doesn't leak.
Next project: replace the floor pans and driver's side rocker panel. **** road salt.
