Cool about to tweak pump

ok fellas im gona tweak my pump a little this weekend, i have the sheet printed telling me about the smoke screw, the full load delivery, and the star wheel, and the full power adjustment, so next, can i tweak only a few of these and still get power and smoke, i love smoke, but at the same time i have to keep my mpg fairly good. maybe only the smoke screw, and truly before i start to make to mucho power i want a tranny cooler, and to kill my kdp(i need $$$$$$$$$) well any suggestions would be greatly appreicated!
thanks,
cody

If it was me I would turn in the fuel screw a couple turns and turn the AFC 270* and that should be good. the smoke screw just makes the fuel come in at lower rpm. I started with mine a couple turns down then when I put the fuel screw in all the way I backed it out about 3 turns. with my first pump tweak I was hitting 22psi then when I turned on the screw It went up to 34. I dont know about the mileage anymore but it seems to be about the same.

Just turn the full fuel screw in a couple turns. You'll get massive amounts of power from that. I wouldn't bother with much else. I maxxed the full fuel and brought my smoke screw pretty far to minimize smoke and extra unneeded fuel on the bottom end. Mileage won't change unless you drive it harder... which you will

The full fuel screw got the best results for me, everything else was just "fine tuning" Replacing the fuel pin brought the next "noticeable" bump in power

You can see where the screw is on here. It's referred to as the "power adjustment screw". It's on the back of the pump underneath the diaphram and will probably have a cover on it that you'll have to pull off. If you don't have guages then don't put more than a turn or so on there. If you do however, Go ahead and put a few turns on it. You'll have to readjust the idle afterwards cuz it will go way up. That link shows you where the idle screw adjustment is too. Kind of tricky sometimes to loosen the locknut and get the screw to move. I believe i used a deep well socket with a long extension to break the nut loose, and then I held the nut with needle nose pliers and used a long screw driver to turn the screw in the direction I needed. Hope all of this makes sense and good luck! You're about to double the love you have for your pickup

i woudnt turn it up much without guages egt's tend to warm up fast if you add fuel, and not much more air. does anyone's truck puff smoke not haze but non consistant puffsat the top end, like when it is amost to stock max rpm's, mine always has, not so bed with new injectors and timing, and pump tweeks a helped a bit. when its cold id really does it.
