a518 reverse shutter update
Hi all today is a good day.... As mentioned in 1st post had slight shudder in reverse a few times it hasn't happen since ....was at the trannie shop tis mornin.. all good news they did road test works fine couldn,t make it to shudder ..pulled pan not a spic of dirt in the pan.. fluid was in good condition[used but good]... filter was clean no signs of dirt burn crap etc,in fact was told didn,t have to replace filter if I wanted to save a few bucks ..no we replaced filter. turned up the line pressure 1 turn added a bottle of lube gaurd and topped her off .We then got a quote to modifly tranny to enstall a transgo diesel shift kit and a heavy duty low stall billet TC $159.00 for kit,$790.00 for TQ plus assorted seals ,shop supplies for total $1098.65 parts and $405.00 labour total before tx $1503.65 CDN. If I want overhaul kits or gaskits couple hours extra labour and parts......... clutchs pacs ,seals yadda yadda add more $$$$$ so how does the kit and tq upgrade sound should i kept goin or not ...oh yes the bomb factor.........................hmmm maybe turbo housing and slight pump adjustment basicly want better delivery of power to wheels ...[ she will be a camper hauler 7/8 weeks a year about 2000lbs..but we love the mountians better fishin ya know ]

Glad to hear it`s not terminal. In my case, even tho the power is fun, I kinda wished i had done the trans bombs first, IMO all the extra power just goes up in heat due to the cruddy T/C in these trucks. Unfortunately I`ve spent all of my bomb $$$ for the foreseable future....hmmmm altho if I were to have a catastrophic failure of the trans it would be considered a "repair"...right???
