A518 question
Is there an internial adjustment on the shift lever? Mine has decided it doesn't like park anymore. I thought the bushings on the linkage were bad or the linkage was in need of adjustment but no such luck. I unhooked the linkage from the shift lever and can just barely make it catch park with my hand and alot of pressure, but still not close to engaging enough to push the neutral safety switch.

I'm looking at the FSM and it doesn't appear to be adjustable.
"The Governor and park lock componets are located within the overdrive unit and cannot be serviced in the vehicle.
The overdrive unit must be removed and disassembled for access to the governor and park lock componets."
From the pics in the book and the discrption on reassembly you may have a bent rod internal to the unit or possibly a broken spring or sprag.
Again, this is what I got from the Factory Service Manual and some speculation on my part. I suggest taking it to the local transmission shop and confir with the mechanic there. I could be wrong!
