My 90' won't go past 82 mph with the pedal to the floor. Something wrong with mine?

Since the calibration of our speedo's vary so much it is hard to know how fast we are really going. When I had a 4:10 my speedometer was at least 12% high. With all of the slop in my throttle, stock fueling and a bad fuel filter, I barely hit a real 75 mph, only to have the engine lose power and coast down to 50, relight and seem normal. After the changes in my sig, I have done an indicated 95, before I, not the truck chickened out. I calculate that it would do an honest 105 to 110 when truly maxed out. I don't much care for the feel of it at 80. It is enough to say that it can go faster than I would ever want it to go.

Yepper I have hit almost 95 with mine,,She will do it no prob! Rpms were up there..

I've been over 100. Once. I need to keep my CDL so I try to keep the speed down.

I am not sure of the REAL speed since my speedo only goes to 85,,, But I have seen 3200 rpm in 5th a few times,
Someone smarter that me will know what that all means,
I have 3;54 rear, And the wonderful OD getrag,,
Rear tires are 265/75/16, I think just a tad bigger than the 235/85/16,
I think the truck is faster than I am smart!

98 MPH in my 1990 but it has a gear vendor. I drove that fast for over 2 hours on a trip from cheyenne to belle fourge, SD in the middle of the night.

what is this OD Getrag? Is it a special version of the normal 5 spd?

4k rpm 5th gear on the dyno, do the math.

I've gone 93MPH in my 1st Gen, but she wouldn't push anymore. 412,000km on the clock, and no mods - yet.

Max, not special model... 5th in the getrag is an OD. 4th is 1:1

I was feeling good to hit 75 down hill with the wind pushing me, then I found out that I was only getting half throttle. I then preceeded to install a ground fuel pin. I wish I could tell you what my speedo says but I'm to concerned with watching the PYRO .

Well I am one of the 3 with 3.07s and Getrag 5sp w/OD and I'll say the fastest I've ever been was where the needle on my 85 mph speedo wrapped all the way around the first mark on the slow side, what is that 5mph or something. It went past 85, needle kept accelerating past straight down, and then finally wrapped all the way around past straight down and still wanting to go more :-O
I stopped because I was afraid, my egts were still in check. but boost was reaching 40 with my hx35 and 16 exhaust housing.

Ive had the old girl up to 115 mph before. She does 95 in the quarter. I dont even hit the OD button till 75 when racing.
