When it is running does it run good or does it run rough?

Pull the fuel filter off and drain it into a clear glass or cup. Make sure you aren't pulling water in from the fuel tank. Even if you've filled her up with a known quality fuel, the specific gravity of water is higher than diesel so will sink to the bottom of the tank, right where your pickup tube is.

It's possible the injectors are sticking open, especially if the truck sat for a few years. That would suck.

When it runs, it runs great, and it could have water in the fuel but the truck did sit for about a year and a half and it wuz set up to run vegy oil, the fuel thats in the filter dosent even smell like diesel, ive been runing auto tranny fluid to clean it out, i called a performance diesel shop and he said the stuck injector could be leting compreshion into the injection lines, ive got new injectors coming so im gona try that first.

From past problem's w/ mine, white smoke always ment too much air, not enought fuel,,,( i could be wrong), but you said the truck run fine for a while.

ya wen it die's its doing it because there is no fuel in the lines, thats why i think its a injector sticking, i can take off the #4 injectore line and it will kinda start but runs rough

I would have a hard time believing it is an injector problem cause it runs good when it is running. I would think that if an injector was bad it would run bad all the time.

Just because there is fuel in the filter don't mean it is good fuel. Also the lift pump could be bad or a bad fuel line could be letting the air in.

Veggie oil can have a lot of water in it IIRC. Draining and cleaning the tank is a great place to start.
