well first convert the trans to 4x4 you will need a new main shaft and a 29 spline transfer case or buy a 23/29 spline adapter they have been tested to over 700 hp and held up fine then you need pedal's and hydro's this swap is very simple to do I just finished a swap for a guy everything bolt's into place made it really nice . I went the extra step and changed out the steering column . if you can find all the part's it's not bad what I would do is find a complete truck .that way you can sell off what you don't need .

The getrag's came with a 29 spline input shaft 205 Tcase.
Your auto has a 23 spline input shaft 205.
You need a getrag main shaft and a 4x4 tail housing. Those two items are hard to find used.

If you watch E Bay or the classified's you can find the part's you need If you already have a auto 205 I would just buy the 23/29 spline adapter and put everything together . the Pedal's are really easy the bracket bolt's to the side of the pedal mount under dash . everything else will fall into place .

Yes but doing a divorced T case the front drive line would be way Long in my book and a waste of time because then you would be adding another set of U joint's between the trans n T case . try fining part's where yer broken on side of road . Also by the time he tear's apart the T Case and has it machined he would be money ahead just buying the 23/29 spline adapter and useing what he already own's .

Easy solution on the divorced is 1410s all the way thru. That is stock cummins driveline size. Any parts store has them. They can be changed quickly with minimal tools. A smart person always will carry a couple u joints with them anywhere. They take up hardly any room in a toolbox. A short driveshaft on a divorced setup is not a weak link. The 23-29 adapter will work, but there is just as much risk of that breaking as a u joint. Try finding that part on the side of the road. The torque converter takes alot of the "shock" from the Cummins. With a manual, it comes down to how you drive. Even then, there is more shock on the driveline than an auto has. That is why they put a 29 spline behind the cummins. Less likely to shear splines, coupled with a larger bearing to handle the torque. There are several ways to do it. It really comes down to preference. No one person is wrong or right. I was simply offering one option for utilizing the 2wd transmission he has available. I plan on doing the same thing.

For me, it came down to what was available in my area at the time of purchase. I have an aversion to buying anything automotive sight unseen, so I preferred to not use ebay. There were a few pieces on ebay, but they were so expensive, they weren't a viable option. There was nothing on CL within 200 miles dodge diesel wise, and at the time there were about 3 divorced units available for cheap, so that is the route I chose. I preferred a factory setup, but wasn't able to find factory stuff. After 6 months of searching online every day, I got tired of waiting. Made perfect sense to me.

You can buy new cast iron tail housing for the NV4500 on E-bay.
You got a 23/29 coupler? When I checked not long ago they said they were out of stock?
