Your right, but i know where there's a couple 3rd gen's with low miles for not much more than he's asking. I think i'd go that route first before i spent that kind of coin on a 17 yr old truck.

I personally wouldn't want to buy a truck that old with those miles on it. When they sit for a long time, things start to deterriorate (spelling?) like the gaskets and such. My brothers '97 had around 78K on it when he bought it, and it had been sitting for a while, and it blew the headgasket, in close to stock from.
Sorry Crewcab XLT for getting off track. Your dad has a really nice truck. Have any interior pics by chance? I imagine an airplane cockpit.
