92 W250 "low" budget remodel....

Okay, so I just rebuilt the 518 in my 92...runnin' like a dream....I ordered up a 4in Sky Jacker lift kit last week, hopin' to have it on by the end of this week...ordered 5" mitre dual stacks, powdercoatin' them black, put my Denny T in and tweaked my pump a bit...also got the 3200rpm in...I say "low" budget cause we all know this ain't cheap....but if I can keep all this under 10k with the price of what I bought the ol' girl for, I'm still ahead from buying a newer pickup...anyways, my next thing is paint. I want to do her all black or black & white, I'm getting some vinyl for my business done on the truck and want it to look halfway decent.
Opinion poll: should I just paint it the best I can with what I have and do it right later (I have a paint sprayer, can do it myself and do a halfway decent job) or just get the body all prepped and hope I run into some extra cash in the near future...and do it right...just need some advice....MOPOWA is inspiring me to do it right, but I also drive the truck daily and can't afford to have her down for too long. Just wanted some opinions. Below is "Big Red" as is, before the stacks, exhaust, lift, paint, etc.... Thanks everybody. Have a killer weekend.

Good project. You could repair minor body damage as you go but don't get excited about final paint prep until you are ready to finish the job. Once bare metal is exposed and primed it won't last long in the elements without the final coat.

I would do it right the first time. You may end up spending more money doing it twice than doing it right the first time. Have a good one!

So, I ended up going cheap, rattle can style....I like it....pulled all the trim and cleaned it up and filled the holes, primed her and painted her. She looks meaner, and my 4 inch lift and powdercoated stacks will go nicely. I'll probably have her done right in a month or so...anyways, I'll post the pics of the lift and stacks next week....have a great weekend.

Looks great penguinman! Nothing wrong with a quick and easy paint job, especially when it turns out as good as that!

...your fingers must have been sore after that!

Thanks guys! The new spray cans have a more friendly nozzle! Dlowkes, I need that guys number! I actually like it rattle canned, but I will spray it right eventually. 92, I'm diggin' the black had to join your club! Lenuel, I used a metal filler on the holes, sanded it, then used bondo...dupli-color makes an inexpensive primer filler that fills any scratches...works good...MOPowa, your truck is on another level.....someday.

Just make friends with a body man and it could be sooner than you think! I was quoted 7000 to do a simple color change from a local body shop....I would still be looking at dents and primer body panels if it had not been for my friend.
