91 auto trans overdrive not kicking in

91 auto trans overdrive not kicking in

I have a 91 w350 4x4 automatic transmission truck and all of a sudden it won't kick into ovwrdrieve but it will do fine in the first 3 gears. I have hit the od button to see if that changes it am not it does not, any suggestions,

Throttle position sensor. Search for it and you will find the solution. I had the same problem.

Look in the sticky for the test procedure for the tps sensor.

I had the same issue, used dnr's replacement kit and had to replace the
VSS, (speed Sensor) http://www.dnrcustoms.com/performanc...93cummins.html

Theres also a trans temp sensor on the trans line right under your feet that also controles whether or not it will kick in.

I would just unplug it and jumper the two prongs so you can rule that out, then if you find the problem you can just plug it back in.

Thought I'd let y'all know that I was checking connections and noticed that there was a momentary switch that the original owner installed to make the transmission shift out of OD with wot, the switch had broke so i put the wires together and went for a test drive. It worked!
