Let me get this straight....Used motor oil in tank??? Like say rotella 15x40 or some trans oil out of a bike.. long as it is clean... Is there a thread on this or something?? I need some more info.... I thought like adding like 1oz per gallon of two smoke oil was the ticket... Now we are mixing gallons of used oil with gallons of ultra refined diesel... What kind of ratio are we talkin??

i recommend runnin it in small quantities, i ran it in large ammounts and got excess white blue smoke, horrid smell from the smoke, and rough idle cuz of soot on injectors, 1 or 2 gallons per full tank will do just fine, but throw in a fuel additive as well, when i channged out my fuel filter it was nasty brown diesel/oil, primed the new wix filter with lucas fuel additive ran a full tank #2 with lucas fuel additive and 1/2 quart of 2-storke oil and i can tell the big diffrence of power and economy. and no more rough idle and smoke!

I've been burnin used oil in my 98 12v for a longtime,I just let it set the crud, any metak & etc will float to the bottom so don't drain it all out.I seen tonite on my local craiglist someone has 100 gal of used oil f/free I'll probably get it too.I have put up to 5 gal a tank but it'll stink & smaoke a little but remember every gallon you use is one less of diesel you'll have to buy.

I wouldn't use tranny fluid. It has friction modifiers in it that would probably cause premature wear.

That's the main reason for burning used oil. I have read that it does NOT add lubrication to the fuel like 2-stroke oil. It can boost mpg's a little but that is yet to be determined. I mean, if it don't burn clean then you're not going to boost mpgs. Synthetic oil should not be used.

I use 1/2 an ounce or a little less per gallon of diesel. Others maybe use a little more. Personally, I would feel ok not using any 2-stroke oil but I figure the 1/2 ounce they recommend (from "that one study") is good enough.

I ran some waste motor oil in a 6.2 diesel once quieted it down a little didn't really notice anything else though and only used it from a known good source and strained it so no metal bits went in.

i've put up to 4 gaal or so but it'll smell & smoke,i usually just put a gal in a tank & it seems to get better mpg with it,I don't strain after i change my oil i put it back in the 2.5 gal container & leave it set a few days & don't ever totally empty it so the crud on the bottom doesn't get in the tank,
oh,the current fuel filter has been on for 12,000 mi i normally change every other oil change @ 10k
i do buy oil @ garage sales cheap & if it's some offbrand it gets put in the truck too a qt or 2 won't hurt.

Hello all ! My first post here. I have a 92 2500 2x4 extra cab with 190k.
Some mods are 16cm turbo housing, 3200 gov spring,3" exhaust exiting in front of rear wheel, opened up the stock air box. pyro and boost guages.
Auto trans.....I have played with all the adjustments externally and the fuel pin, star wheel etc. and have gotten 21 psi boost..intercooled also.
Back to milage results...with these setting and a big cabover and 1100 mile trip-milage was all over the place..10 to 17.... 4.45 a gallon then. now almost 5.00..arrrrgggg..so i turned all the settings back to stock or leaner than stock
Temps are fine at wot still 15 psi boost.... 2 dirtbikes in the back and gear
130 mile road trip at 22 MPG's engine runs very quiet now too.....Ps my foot was in the grandma mode too......

alright cool! well i'll start doing that but i don't know how much itll help me. my truck gets 16mpg one cause of my gear ratio being 4:10's and cause i only have a 3spd auto trans. but i get 16 pulling our 16ft flatbed bumper pull w/ 4 ATV's and my truck bed loaded enough to level the whole truck out. so i hope this will help me get better mileage.
