89 w350
I am looking at a 89 one ton 4x4 dodge cummins. It has a 5 speed. I have been trying to find some info about the driveline. What kind of front axle would this have? It appears to have lock out's. They have an np205 t-case? What would the factory hp rating of this be? When did they start intercooling?
Thanks.
Thanks.

It would have a Dana 60 front, or, very rare, but I looked at one with a Dana 70 front. Either way a good axle. Yes np205 is right. They have a 160hp/400lb ft torque rating. THey started intercooling mid 91, so yours is not intercooled, from the factory anyways.

Is the differnce between two I/C and N/I a heat shield. Also I really don't need the muffler. Do they all include a muffler, can they sell without? I am new to this, but am anxious.

Im not sure but think they sell without muffler. Not sure bout heat shield. I bought mine from a place in Oklahoma and it was 3" dp with a heat shield to 4" all the way out. I just built a 4" dp for mine. but there is no difference in exhaust for i/c or non shape wise.

Where I used to work they have an exhuast machine, but it only goes
to 3". There are some decent exhuast shops around, but they dont have mandrel benders. I didn't know if they could build the down pipe.

The benefit of an actual "mandrel bend" exhaust is enough to order one. Unless your shop can do mandrel bends then by all means go for it. My local exhaust pro hot rod guru told me once that mandrel bend flows approx. 20% better IIRC, to clarify, the same diameter but conventional bender compared to mandrel bends.
