I used the exhaust system that came out of the donor truck in my RamCharger. It was custom bent 3 inch and it was a headache to make it fit in the RC without bouncing off the frame or the springs. I used a weld on hanger to locate it, like Walker 36516.
I understand your frustration. I'm trying to fit 4 inch in my CrewCab with divorced transfer case. Fun times.

I ordered the ES3000 shocks that Pro Comp makes the other day. I will be installing those along with the exhaust tip, in a few days when they show up. Taking it to Carlisle is starting to look like a go!

I had several hours to mess around on the Gauntlet with my friend Walter tonight.
We got the exhaust dialed in. We pulled the last piece of it off to modify and shorten it. I dimpled it a little more so I could angle it closer to the leaf springs and away from the diesel tank. I then cut off the last 20 inches or so of the tail pipe off and replaced it with a 18 inch stainless turn down tip. I looks much better to me now.
We then mounted up the super cute, stubby little rear drive shaft I had cut down and re balanced for it. I did take some pictures of the exhaust work so you guys can check out the clearance issues I have had.
I then moved on to heating up the rear lower shock mounts / u bolt plates with my oxygen/act torch. I did this so we could bend them back to shape and Walter could install the new ES3000 shocks all the way around.
I then dialed in some of the wires and vent tubes to the Trans and T-case while it was on the lift.
I finished off the wrench fest with a beer while I torqued the new rear U-bolts down to 100 FT #s.

Thanks T-Man!
Those are a bunch of before pictures of my less than stellar fitting Diamond Eye exhaust system tail pipe. Being made for a pick up truck adapting it to my RC took some cutting and modifying.
The next few pictures are after I cut it down and added the new stainless tip and re worked it a bit. You can see the fuel tank clearance is minimal and when on the lift the over load spring on the leaf basically touches the tail pipe.
The cut down W-250 rear driveshaft came out great and fits very well...I sure is cute looking.

I feel a little better knowing that I am just close to the metal skid plate of the fuel tank and that there is another 3/4 on an inch on the other side of it. I am not worried about melting a hole in the tank for that reason. I do NOT want to listen to it rattling against that metal skid plate on the road though.
I am also super close to the shock as well once that was installed. I have several exhaust hangers in that area, to keep movement down to a minimum.
I may have to do some more modifying after I get some road test time next month. I am pushing for having it ready to be in the show field in Carlisle...

Well after I picked up my daughter from school today we got the RC out and did some work.
We installed the new Metro soft seal door seals I ordered.
I had to pull off the rear 2 inch spacers and drill them out a few thousands bigger for the lug nuts to be torqued down properly. We then re attached them, lock tight'ed the nuts and tightened them up to 100 FT#s. We then installed the rims and torqued those down as well. My buddy Walter then stopped by for a beer and I took the opportunity of having an extra set of hands and we pulled all the trim and the head liners out.
I will be trying to 3M adhesive spray the OEM head liner back on the backer and reattach them.
The list is getting shorter...

My daughter and I really drove the RC today for the first time today!
We only put a couple of miles on it. The exhaust did not rattle. The brakes worked great, though the passenger rear did grab a little early. When I got it back in the shop, it didn't even drip a drop of anything. We called it a win, so we treated it to a OEM '89 Cummins Turbo Diesel emblem for the rear hatchback. I still have things to dial in but we are getting close!
