Seems like I have herd that the piston bowles were different between Intercooled and Non intercooled. But I dont know if that would make a difference or not. Some of the more experianced members would have to answere that one(Wanna)!lol

I think it would be ok. From what i've been told the piston bowls are different but you can use it with no problems. Just put your 93 head on it "if it's good" and run it. Now would be a good time to o-ring the head and fix the leaks "new crank seals, pan gasket, new freeze plugs, ect. " while it's out. That way you would be good to go for many years of leak free.

I'd just swap engines unless there's a head gasket issue with the '89. Less work that way and you keep the big injectors.

thanks for the replies. Yes i may just use the 89 as a whole, but im worried of head problems in the future. The 93 runs ok, but i noticed dust all through the intake system from using a k&n filter. i was bummed when i saw it. thanks

My non-ic is still good at 300k but it did have one valve job. I beat my truck hard and see high EGTs. I perfer non-ic engines for cheap thrills

Change the filter and keep runnin' it until you get too much blowby. All the bad filter did was speed up the break-in for the rings.
