85 Dodge Crewcab Owners Respond! (parking brake ??)
My question is for the owners of an 85 crew cab short bed. I broke the emergency brake cable a year or two ago and now I'm trying to fix it. My question is this a two part set up? Meaning the main single cable coming from the park brake pedal in the cab, then it's held on the frame by a bracket and a clip. At the end of this cable is a threaded section about 8 - 10 in. long. Now this is where my memory fails me, is there another section with a bracket (that the threaded adjuster goes into) and two cables that goes to the cables going into the wheel drums which apply the park brake. Does this make sense?? I hope so. I have another 85 crew with the single cable described above but it will not reach the two cable's which apply the brake in the drums. This is making me think there is an intermediate section that i am missing. If you have photo's that would be great!

I will respond to this, even though I don't have a Dodge Crew Cab, I have a 78 Ford Crew Cab. The parking brake cable set up on my Ford sounds identical to your description, what Ford did was run 2 cable extensions from the end of the single to the beginning of the two cables from the hubs. So you have the one cable from the pedal, the "T" then two cables to a square connector, to the cables from the hubs. Hope this makes sense. When I put mine back together, i had to have the two extensions specially made by a local shop. Cost me about $20.

I'm in Winnipeg MB, an had a local shop cut the cable and attach the necessary ends. A little far from you! But I think local shops to you should have the contacts to find a place that can cut and fix the ends.
