750 degrees at 55mph ?? W/upgrades it SCREAMS!!

Got the truck from the shop tonight and am totally amazed with the upgrades.

This is what was added and it flat out gets it!!!1

62/65/14 Ind.inj. wastegated turbo
6x.013 edmed injectors
HX 40 down pipe
5" silverline stacks
3200 gov spring
PDR fuel pin
Icebox CAI

Pyro is in the manifold right before turbo. I have 3.54 gears and getrag.
Timing has not been bumped up.

I have two questions

1)Is 750 degrees at 55 about normal for these upgrades??
2)What temp. should I back off at when getting on it?

750 at 55mph is hotter than my pickup, and I think it runs warm. I like to see about 10deg per MPH (700deg at 70mph, 600deg at 60 etc). What gear were you in? If in 5th, you were lugging the engine a little (and the tranny a LOT), causing your higher EGT. I actually run cooler at 1900 RPM than at 1400 RPM.

Test your intercooler system for leaks. If you have the original stock intercooler, chances are it leaks by now.

I'd back out of it at 1250 sustained if towing; I've gone up to 1400 for a short time while accelerating onto interstate and watching traffic. I shoot for <1300.

That turbo will be happier at higher rpms so that temp is about right. It would probably run cooler in 4th gear.

I will do a little more test driving. I only drove it about 8 miles.

How do you check intercooler for leaks ?

Please keep posting some typical EGTS's with your upgraded trucks.

Thanks for the quick reply Daniel.

With a hopped up engine with the timing advanced, I would back out at 1100 when towing.

I have a 62/65/12, 6x16's, ferd intercooler, 3" air tubes, injection pump maxed and the timing set at 2.03mm using the plunger lift method. Ported, o-ringed head.

I cruise 70mph at 600*F pre turbo with about 500*F post turbo.

You need some timing to go with that fuel.
