I just got my 60mm wheel and housing from GDS. The tec on the phone knew first gens really well. I was impressed.

I plan to install this weekend ,read the stickey, 1 right 1 left nut, got the tork values. Any advice, tips, anybody want to come over?

Its easy the little 8mm bolts are a pain especially the bottom right one closest to the engine that was the hardest because of the heat exchanger thing for the auto tranny, probably easier on manual trucks.

I doubt you will need to change the backing plate for a GDS 60mm. That is an HTT stage IV thing.

pretty easy to do, the hardest part on my truck was getting the down pipe reconnected.

I had to remove the turbo. My downpipe was too much in the way.

Don't lose the bolts to the oil drain tube.

Don't forget the bolt holding the wheel on is a left handed thread.

And don't forget the torque rating on the wheel is in "INCH POUNDS" no foot pounds.

Watch for the O-ring that seals the housing to the center section. You may not notice it stays stuck to the old housing and leave it out.

after many years rebuilding turbos. I can tell you that is a good way to bend the fins on the the compressor wheel. yes it will work but you stand a chance bending the fins. Ken

Ya'll make it sound too difficult. It takes 20 minutes and is pretty easy.

Just remove the v-band clamps from the DP, turbo outlet, and compressor housing. I use a simple 7/16" nut driver for that.

Then get a 3/4" 12 point socket and 3" extension. Push the DP out of the way and put the socket on the turbine wheel. After you pull the compressor off just slap a 1/2" wrench on the nut and turn to the RIGHT. With the old wheel off wipe everything down good and push the new compressor wheel on. Now just do all of that backward and youre done. 3 simple tools and 20 minutes.
