hey-Hey!!!,
I have an NV5600 2WD. Needs shortened rear driveshaft( and for 4WD lengthened front). I think the break for 1.25 to 1.375" input shaft falls within your source dates so you may need to worry about the clutch. If 1.375", you'll want the 13" clutch( you'll want it anyway ). You'll also need a Gen 2 trans spacer and that will take only a Gen 2 starter. Depending on flywheel choice you may need the starter spacer( that is what I did ). You'll need a trans cross member and the shifter hole needs moved backwards. There is no doubt stuff I've left out; don't take this as a complete list...
cheers,
Douglas

My swap was with a G56 6spd trans. There would be some swap difference between it and a NV5600.
But for your reading enjoyment here is a link.

The NV500 has 2 unique inputs, '99 through very early in '01 used the 1-1/4" input and '01-'05-1/2 used the 1-3/8" version.
If you have the unfortunate luck to find a (rare original) 1-1/4" input one, prepare to shell out serious dough to update it to the large input and gears, because they used a narrower synchro that was prone to failure.
The early version used a standard NV4500-type flywheel and clutch, the later version used a special flywheel, 13" (narrow friction track) clutch and a special starter spacer.
As with a 2nd gen NV4500 conversion, using the 2nd gen starter and block plate, into a 1st gen, there will be starter-to-frame clearance issues, which necessitate a slight bit of tweaking of the frame rail to clear the starter.
There are TWO separate NV5600 shifter stubs that the handle screws onto, the early version, '99-'02, works best in the 1st gen trucks.
1st gen hydros will properly actuate the clutch in an NV5600.
Mark.
